María Sánchez López

BIO

Seville, 1997. She graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Seville in 2019 and completed the Advanced Course in Landscape organised by the same university. She lives and works in Madrid.
Her painting practice reflects on how identity is shaped through fragility, both within imagined spaces and in intimate, everyday environments. She explores the home not as a fixed structure but as a transient refuge, painting on cardboard—a permeable and vulnerable material—to reframe the everyday and open portals into memory, desire, and belonging. She is represented by Galería Sara Caso in Madrid.
Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions including Confesionario (Seville City Council, 2022), Detective (Galería Sara Caso, 2023), Cara a cara (Espacio La Cabina, 2024), and Un abismo de fragilidad (Canal Gallery, Barcelona, 2025). In 2025, she participated in Hybrid Art Fair with Espacio La Cabina, where she received the I Canal Gallery Residency Award. In 2023, she was awarded First Prize at the Vila de Pego National Painting Competition.
