Rebeca Zarza

Zaragoza, 1981. She studied Graphic Design at ESDA Zaragoza and Printmaking and Printing Techniques at the Zaragoza School of Art. She also completed the Interdisciplinary Diploma in Artistic Research and Practice at the Centre for Research, Innovation and Development of the Arts at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (Mexico). She lives and works in Zaragoza.

Since late 2023, she has focused her practice on artistic creation and research. Her work explores the relationship between materiality, memory, and landscape, and the ways in which digital and handcrafted processes intersect in how we perceive and represent our surroundings. She constructs landscapes through the repetition of elements, as layered palimpsests, combining traditional, digital, and experimental techniques on wood and satin cast acrylic. Her compositions begin digitally and are subsequently developed using ink, oil, acrylic, and stone and marble dust. She works at Zarza Estudio and teaches on the Design degree programme at Escuela Superior de Hac_r Creativo in Zaragoza.

For twenty years, she worked in the field of design, both with agencies in Spain and Bangkok and through her own studio. In 2025, she received the Gran Premio Santa Isabel de Portugal from the Provincial Council of Zaragoza and, in 2024, a Special Mention at the I VP Hotel & Art Awards. Her solo exhibitions include Liminal: paisajes en construcción (Galería Olga Julián, Zaragoza, 2025) and Now here, Nowhere (Museo de Albarracín, 2025; Centro Joaquín Roncal / Fundación CAI, Zaragoza, 2024). She is participating in JUSTMAD 2026. Her previous distinctions include Anuaria and Igdea Gold Awards for illustration and design (2015–2016).
